K-pop’s strength in the global pop market, proven by the group’s fastest milestone yet
“SWIM,” the title track from BTS’ fifth studio album ARIRANG, has surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform. The group’s label, BIGHIT MUSIC, announced the milestone on the 24th, reaffirming BTS’ enduring standing in the global music market.
The achievement makes “SWIM” the first song released anywhere in the world this year to reach the milestone. It is also the fastest record among BTS’ releases to reach 1 billion streams. Since its release, “SWIM” has drawn overwhelming support from listeners around the world, topping major pop charts and sustaining its success over time.
With “SWIM” reaching the milestone, BTS now has seven songs with 1 billion streams on Spotify, following “Dynamite,” “Butter” and “Boy With Luv,” among others. The figure puts the group alongside the world’s biggest pop stars, beyond the ranks of K-pop artists, and once again demonstrates their unique influence, backed by both a strong fan base and broad public appeal.
