[New Anime] Crunchyroll Brings 24 Exclusive Titles, Including Overgeared, to Korea, Poised to Shake Up the OTT Market

Global anime powerhouse steps up push into Korean market

Sony Group-owned global anime streaming service (OTT) Crunchyroll officially announced on the 29th that it will roll out a total of 24 new anime titles in Korea this fall. The move is seen as a strategic effort to expand its market share in step with the rapid growth in anime viewership in Korea.

The fall lineup includes eight titles exclusive or co-exclusive to Korea and spans a range of genres, including fantasy, action, romance, mystery and sports. Fantasy anime Overgeared: The Power of Items, based on a popular Korean web novel and webtoon, is among the most anticipated titles, drawing strong interest from fans in Korea. Other highlights rounding out the lineup include the action epic Black Clover: New Chapter, romance series Firefly Wedding, adventure mystery The Vermilion Mask and the return of the classic Magic Knight Rayearth.

The fantasy and action lineup includes A Returner's Magic Should Be Special Season 2, available exclusively in Korea, as well as A Tale of the Secret Saint, The World's Strongest Witch, The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System and Vertex Force.

Romance and drama fans will also have plenty to look forward to. Titles with distinctive premises, including Hello. I'm the Witch Who Was Asked to Make a Love Potion for the Person I Fell For., I'm a Weak MAX Lady, but I Ended Up Making a Bet with My Shrewd Fiancé and Red River, are set to premiere.

Mystery, thriller and adventure titles PSYREN, HORROR COLLECTOR, Dreamland and #I'm Looking for a Zombie are set to deliver plenty of suspense. Sports anime fans can also look forward to the sequential releases of Aoashi Season 2 and The Prince of Tennis II U-17 WORLD CUP: Final Member Selection Match.

Crunchyroll plans to maximize convenience for Korean viewers by providing Korean subtitles or dubbing for the new titles, tailored to each series. It will also run a promotion offering new subscribers one month of free viewing when they sign up for a monthly membership, as it steps up efforts to attract subscribers.
