‘Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Spooky! My Yokai Vacation’ Set to Open December 3

‘Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Spooky! My Yokai Vacation,’ the 2026 new theatrical film in the beloved franchise enjoyed by audiences of all ages, has confirmed its December 3 (Thursday) release and unveiled a launch poster and trailer. ‘Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Spooky! My Yokai Vacation’ is a fantasy anime about the ‘yo’-strange and ‘kai’-strange countryside vacation Shin-chan and his family experience after heading to his grandfather’s house for a holiday break and encountering yokai there.

Known for its signature lighthearted humor and endearing, offbeat charm, the ‘Crayon Shin-chan’ movie series has captivated audiences—and this latest installment is returning with even more impact, raising expectations after becoming the franchise’s highest-grossing film ever. Since opening in Japan this past July, it has drawn 2.18 million moviegoers in just 45 days and earned a total of 2.7 billion yen at the box office (Japan box office figures as of September 14, 2026), setting a new record for the ‘Crayon Shin-chan’ movie series. Hailed as a legendary entry alongside ‘Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: The Adult Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: The Mystery of the Academy of Tenkasu,’ it has begun an extended theatrical run amid an enthusiastic audience response and continues to perform well.

The launch poster, unveiled with the announcement of its Korean release, grabs attention with a dazzling image of Shin-chan gazing at beautiful fireworks filling the night sky. The fireworks, shaped like various yokai, and the tagline “A delightful and bizarre encounter” add to the mystery surrounding Shin-chan’s enchanting, strange summer memories in the film. The accompanying launch trailer opens with the anticipation-building tagline, “The highest-grossing film in the history of the Crayon Shin-chan movie series!” and draws laughs with adorable Shin-chan, who watches the fireworks and can only exclaim, “Wow! Wow!”

With the highest box-office record in the franchise’s history, and its cutest and strangest Shin-chan yet, ‘Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Spooky! My Yokai Vacation’ arrives in Korean theaters this winter, opening nationwide on December 3 (Thursday).
