On October 30, KRAFTON, the developer of 'PUBG: Battlegrounds' (hereafter, PUBG), announced that it is working with Netflix to produce a live-action series based on the PUBG IP. According to the announcement, Donald Glover will write, direct, star in and executive produce the live-action series. Glover is an actor, but is also known as the creator of 〈Atlanta〉, for which he won Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, and as singer Childish Gambino, who released the hit song 'This Is America.'

As the project is still in its early stages, it remains unclear how the series will portray the PUBG universe. However, KRAFTON’s dedicated entertainment subsidiary, LV3H, is said to be directly involved and leading the screen adaptation of the PUBG intellectual property (IP). Stephen Glover, who co-wrote 〈Atlanta〉 with Donald Glover, is also attached to the project.
‘Battle Royale’ phenomenon that set records expands into screen entertainment
Released in 2017, PUBG is an unprecedented hit game that popularized the so-called battle royale genre, in which up to 100 players start unarmed on the same map, scavenge for weapons and equipment, and fight until only one player remains. Its revenue exceeded 3 trillion won in 2025. Before it became partially free-to-play in 2022, the game sold a total of 75 million copies, making it the sixth-best-selling video game of all time for a single title.
