The year 2025 is coming to a close. Just as previews for year-end settlements often come up, the end of the year requires a time to reflect and summarize the year. Therefore, Cineplay also aims to look back on the year and select impressive works in various fields.

[Sungchan Eul's Comic Book] Capturing Academics, Dreams, Love, and Friendship in 'Skip and Loafer'

[Sungchan Eul's Comic Book] Capturing Academics, Dreams, Love, and Friendship in 'Skip and Loafer'

I am crazy about subculture. I check out not only movies but also webtoons, games, comics, and animations that deal with fresh stories, themes, and characters. I opened the world of 'otaku' through comic books and became an 'adult child' who reads comic books as e-books and webtoons on my smartphone. However, it's less fun to enjoy alone. I draw [Sungchan Eul's Comic Book] from the perspective of a passionate fan, capturing what would be more enjoyable to experience together.
There is a comic that I had in mind since the time I was preparing to serialize this corner. However, I had put it aside for a while as I had previously covered it, but lo and behold, this comic has recently been featured on Naver Webtoon.
[Chua-young's Music Box] The Screams of 'The Shining', the Auditory Discomfort Created by Krzysztof Penderecki's Music

[Chua-young's Music Box] The Screams of 'The Shining', the Auditory Discomfort Created by Krzysztof Penderecki's Music

I get hooked on the music in movies. Music sometimes conveys the intimate emotions of characters that cannot be fully expressed through visible images and audible dialogues. It can also serve as a window to glimpse the hidden intentions of the creator. For me, understanding film music was one way to connect with the film. 'Chua-young's Music Box' listens to the voice of the film more closely through music. (P.S. I hope you read this while listening to the music.)
The masterpiece of the great Stanley Kubrick, 〈The Shining〉, has returned this winter. 〈The Shining〉 depicts the horror that ensues as Jack, a man consumed by desire and madness in a remote hotel during winter, gradually descends into madness and threatens his family.
[Kim Ji-yeon's Jewelry Box] 2025 Presence of the Year Award, 'Typhoon Company' Lee Sang-jin from 'Fine: Country Bumpkins'

[Kim Ji-yeon's Jewelry Box] 2025 Presence of the Year Award, 'Typhoon Company' Lee Sang-jin from 'Fine: Country Bumpkins'

I am curious about people. Even if they are already recognized actors, today might be the least famous day of their lives. 'Kim Ji-yeon's Jewelry Box' introduces actors who are continuously breaking their own records. Invest in 'rising stocks' at their low points.
Truly an actor who embodies the phrase 'crazy presence.' If there is a 'Presence of the Year Award' in 2025, I would like to give it to this actor. Recently concluded drama 〈Seoul's Manager Kim Working at a Large Company〉 featured a special appearance, while in the movie 〈Good News〉 he had a minor...
[Joo Seong-cheol's Locker] The Aesthetics of Jongmyo That Captivated Masters of Martial Arts from Ho Kim-jun to John Woo, Jackie Chan, and Sammo Hung

[Joo Seong-cheol's Locker] The Aesthetics of Jongmyo That Captivated Masters of Martial Arts from Ho Kim-jun to John Woo, Jackie Chan, and Sammo Hung

I get fascinated by objects in movies. I fall into deep contemplation about why that object was placed in front of the camera, whether it be the director, cinematographer, art director, or an actor. 'Joo Seong-cheol's Locker' is a record of the objects in movies that have lightly stepped on my eyes.
I must ask for your understanding again. I changed the last series to 'Joo Seong-cheol's Character Locker' and wrote a tribute to actor Lee Soon-jae, and this time I want to change it to 'Joo Seong-cheol's Building Locker' to talk about 'Jongmyo'.

We live to eat; it sounds like a joke, but humans have an inseparable relationship with eating. In reality, if people do not eat, they die. To avoid death, one must eat. This simple proposition is transferred to the fantasy world in 〈Delicious in Dungeon〉, which is the comic I am introducing today.

Boys gather in groups and light firecrackers. The firecrackers soar into the sky with a bang, startling Asako , who ducks for cover. At this moment, music begins to play, blending with the montage of the city, infusing the film with vitality.

“O poor and naked souls who are suffering from this harsh storm somewhere. How are you enduring this fierce storm, clutching your hungry belly without a room to lay your head, dressed in rags under a hole-ridden window. I have been too indifferent to you all this time.
