Jo Jung-seok, a father of a real 6-year-old daughter and the lead actor of 〈Zombie Daughter〉, shared his feelings about playing a character with deep paternal love.
On the afternoon of the 24th, Jo Jung-seok met with Cineplay in a location in Jongno-gu, Seoul to discuss the movie 〈Zombie Daughter〉.
〈Zombie Daughter〉 is a comedic drama about a doting father who begins secret training to protect his daughter, who has become the last remaining zombie in the world. Jo Jung-seok plays the role of ‘Jung-hwan’, a father who undergoes secret training for his daughter, showcasing not only his heartfelt paternal love but also the essence of Jo Jung-seok's comedic acting.
In the interview, Jo Jung-seok expressed his special affection for the movie 〈Zombie Daughter〉, saying, "It was a fateful encounter disguised as coincidence, as I happened to become a father during a time when my child is growing up."
Jo Jung-seok shared his thoughts on participating in the film, stating, "This work made me realize, 'Do I have this kind of paternal love?'" He particularly noted, "In other works, emotional scenes were difficult, but in this one, my emotions came out very naturally during the emotional scenes," reflecting on his ability to perform natural emotional acting.
While working with actress Choi Yu-ri, who plays his zombie daughter Sua, Jo Jung-seok mentioned, "My daughter is 6 years old, and I thought it would be nice if she became a middle school student soon. I want to bicker with her like friends," but after receiving advice from other father seniors, he laughed and said, "That was a very foolish thought." He expressed his desire to be a father like a friend, humorously describing his relationship with his current 6-year-old daughter as, "A dad who tries to play well, and who thinks she is so cute that he wants to tease her, but ends up being teased instead."
The movie 〈Zombie Daughter〉 will be released in theaters nationwide on the 30th.
