Lee Byung-hun to Host the Opening Ceremony of the 30th Busan International Film Festival!... First Male Solo Host

The organizing committee of the 30th Busan International Film Festival officially announced on the 28th that actor Lee Byung-hun has been selected as the host for the opening ceremony scheduled for September.

A festival official stated, "This is the first-ever male solo host in history," and explained the background for selecting Lee Byung-hun, saying, "He will solidify the symbolism and weight of the festival celebrating its 30th edition."

Lee Byung-hun, a veteran actor marking his 35th year in acting this year, is regarded as one of the leading figures in the Korean film industry. He has consistently expanded his acting spectrum through various works, including the films 〈Inside Men〉 (2015), 〈The Man Standing Next〉 (2020), 〈Concrete Utopia〉 (2023), and 〈The Match〉 (2025).

He solidified his status as a global actor by appearing in the Netflix original series 〈Squid Game〉. Additionally, he expanded his acting domain by voicing characters in the Netflix animated film 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 and the Korean animation 〈King of Kings〉.

The 30th Busan International Film Festival will be held for ten days from September 17 to 26 at the Busan Cinema Center.
