Park Hae-jun and Yeom Jung-ah Star in tvN Drama 'For the First Love'... A Story of a Single Mom Reuniting with Her First Love

Actress Yeom Jung-ah presents a new side to viewers as a single mom who will not shy away from any difficulties for her daughter.

In the new family drama on tvN 〈For the First Love〉, Yeom Jung-ah plays Lee Ji-an, who works as a construction site manager while raising her daughter alone. At the online press conference held on the 30th, Yeom Jung-ah introduced her character as "a mom who laughs and cries because of her one and only daughter whom she loves the most in the world."

Yeom Jung-ah expressed deep empathy regarding the conflict situations with her daughter in the drama. She revealed, "When the daughter in the drama does only what she is told not to do and speaks harshly, it hurts the mom," adding, "As someone raising a child, I could relate to that a lot and it was upsetting." Yeom Jung-ah explained, "In the drama, her daughter Lee Hyo-ri listened well until she became a college student, but suddenly she started rebelling against her mom every day as if she hit puberty late."

Regarding her chemistry with actress Choi Yoon-ji, who plays her daughter, Yeom Jung-ah stated, "I thought we needed to get close quickly so that she could treat me comfortably like a real mom, so we often contacted each other and had meals together." She continued to praise Choi Yoon-ji, saying, "She has no flaws and is pretty no matter what she does, so I received a lot of help when acting as mother and daughter together."

〈For the First Love〉 depicts the story of Lee Ji-an, who raises her daughter alone, reuniting with her first love, Ryu Jung-seok, who is also raising a son alone. The drama is directed by Yoo Je-won, who also directed 〈One Hit Scandal〉 and 〈Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha〉.

Director Yoo Je-won explained, "Lee Ji-an and her daughter Lee Hyo-ri, who constantly fight whenever they make eye contact, end up settling in a rural village due to certain circumstances, where they meet Ryu Jung-seok and his son Ryu Bo-yeon, and the story unfolds as they live together with the villagers."

He expressed confidence, saying, "There will be romance, many happenings, and character growth, so it will be a very interesting drama with a lot to show."

Park Hae-jun, who plays the male lead Ryu Jung-seok, introduced his character as "a person with a prickly yet warm heart." He revealed his motivation for participating, saying, "Personally, I wanted to try a work with this warm feeling to purify my heart."

Comparing his character to Yang Kwan-sik from his earlier work 〈When Life Gives You Tangerines〉, Park Hae-jun explained, "While Yang Kwan-sik is straightforward from the start, Ryu Jung-seok is somewhat closed off, so the process of opening up is depicted as important."

Regarding his consecutive appearances in melodramas, he joked, "I think it's about time I should try something like a knife handle."

〈For the First Love〉 will premiere on August 4th.
