Actress Son Ye-jin shared her thoughts on taking on a project after giving birth.
On the morning of August 19, a production report for the movie 〈No Other Choice〉 was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall. Director Park Chan-wook, Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won attended the event to discuss the film.
〈No Other Choice〉 is a film that tells the story of an office worker, 'Mansu' (Lee Byung-hun), who feels that he has achieved everything in life but suddenly gets fired. To protect his wife 'Miri' and their two children, and to keep the home he worked hard to acquire, he prepares for his own war towards re-employment. Actress Son Ye-jin plays the role of 'Miri', who responds to her husband 'Mansu's' unemployment with comfort rather than blame, becoming the center of the family while dealing with crises positively and rationally.
On that day, Son Ye-jin said about her role, "This was my first project after giving birth. It helped me. I think the real-life experience is incomparable to anything else, and my appearance with the child felt natural." She revealed that her actual parenting experience greatly influenced her immersion in acting. She added, "It’s the image of a positive mother who wants to take responsibility for her family. So it was easy to immerse myself in the role," mentioning that the emotions she feels as a mother naturally connected with her character.
The new film 〈No Other Choice〉 by director Park Chan-wook, featuring a meeting of trusted actors, dramatic developments, beautiful mise-en-scène, solid direction, and even black comedy, is set to be released in Korea in September.
