The new competition program 'KPOPPED', featuring collaborations between global pop stars and K-pop idols, is attracting worldwide attention right after its release.
According to the online video service (OTT) ranking site 'FlixPatrol', 'KPOPPED', which was released on Apple TV+ on the 29th of last month, ranked 4th in the global popularity rankings as of August 31.
This program features a unique concept where global pop artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Spice Girls, Taylor Dayne, TLC, Kesha, Kylie Minogue, and domestic idols like Billie, ITZY, STAYC, and ATEEZ share the stage and compete.
Looking at the regional performance, it ranked 1st in Korea, and in East Asian countries familiar with K-pop such as Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, and Mongolia, it recorded 2nd place. Notably, it also reached 5th place in the United States, indicating high local interest. Globally, it achieved a top 10 ranking in a total of 99 countries, including the UK, Argentina, and Saudi Arabia. Domestically, it ranked 1st in real-time popular content on the Apple TV+ brand channel on Tving right after its release.
Lionel Richie, the co-planner of the program and an American singer-songwriter, expressed his surprise on social media, saying, "'KPOPPED' is number one in Korea?"
The American music media 'Billboard' evaluated the program, stating, "Global stars gather in one place to show authentic and awe-inspiring musical interactions."
