Netflix has officially complained to Tencent Video in China.
Netflix mentioned that on September 2nd, during the 'Netflix Entertainment Festival 2025' held at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul, they officially conveyed their opinion regarding Tencent Video's program 〈Yipangfengsen〉. 〈Yipangfengsen〉 used a format that divides and competes among participating chefs, and the concept of dividing participants by rank and the screen composition were all too similar to Netflix's original 〈Culinary Class Wars〉, raising suspicions of plagiarism.
Recognizing this, Netflix stated at the event, "We delivered an official complaint requesting the suspension of broadcasting to Tencent Video." Yoo Gi-hwan, Director of Netflix's Non-Fiction Division, said, "They intentionally used many aspects," and PD Kim Hak-rim of 〈Culinary Class Wars〉 expressed, "The cuts and compositions of scenes made overnight were exactly the same."
Netflix has been increasing the proportion of remake rights exports due to the success of Korean original programs. Therefore, the airing of 〈Yipangfengsen〉, which closely resembles a successful program like 〈Culinary Class Wars〉, seems to have raised awareness on Netflix's side as well. Director Yoo Gi-hwan warned, "We have no intention of tolerating our IP infringement in the future," indicating Netflix's strong response.
