One of the representative works of the domestic musical scene, 'Rent' will open its 10th season on November 9 at the COEX Atrium in Seoul, as announced by the production company Shinsicom on the 10th.

'Rent' is a sung-through musical that modernly reinterprets Puccini's opera 'La Bohème', depicting the intense daily lives of young artists living in New York's East Village. Sung-through refers to a musical format where the story unfolds solely through songs without spoken dialogue.

This work was created by playwright Jonathan Larson, who is also famous for the musical 'Tick, Tick... Boom!', and had its first performance on Broadway in the United States in 1996. The work, which directly addresses socially taboo subjects such as homosexuality, AIDS, and drug addiction, represents the voices of the younger generation and achieved the remarkable feat of winning four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, that same year.

In Korea, it has been consistently loved since its first performance in 2000, and this marks its tenth season.

Looking at the casting for this season, Lee Hae-jun, Yoo Hyun-seok, and Yoo Tae-yang are double cast as the main character Roger. Jin Tae-hwa and Yang Hee-jun will play Mark. The female lead Mimi will be played by Kim Soo-ha and Solji, while Jo Kwon and Hwang Soon-jong are cast as Angel. The role of Collins will be performed by Jang Ji-hoo and Hwang Geon-ha.

The performances are scheduled to continue for about three months until February 22 next year.
