Director Park Chan-wook compared his new work 〈No Other Choice〉 with his previous work 〈Decision to Leave〉.
On the afternoon of the 22nd, a press screening and press conference for the movie 〈No Other Choice〉 was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall. On this day, Director Park Chan-wook, along with actors Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, and Yeom Hye-ran, responded to questions from domestic reporters who watched the film during the press conference.
When asked by reporters about the pressure following the great acclaim for the previous work 〈Decision to Leave〉 (2022), Director Park Chan-wook said, "I am the type of director who always thinks about making a film that is in some way opposite to the previous work. So if 〈Decision to Leave〉 is close to poetry, I thought 〈No Other Choice〉 is closer to prose. Compared to the previous work that had a lot of blank space, 〈No Other Choice〉 is a packed film," mentioning the characteristics of the new work that contrasts with the previous one. However, Director Park added, "If the previous work has a strong feminine aspect, this work is an exploration of masculinity. In many ways, it is a quite different film," expressing hope that those who liked 〈Decision to Leave〉 would enjoy the new film that contains new aspects.
Director Park Chan-wook's new work 〈No Other Choice〉 tells the story of 'Mansu' (Lee Byung-hun), an office worker who felt that he had achieved everything and was satisfied with life, suddenly getting fired and preparing for his own war towards re-employment to protect his wife and two children and to keep the house he had worked hard to acquire. The movie 〈No Other Choice〉 is set to be released on September 24.
