Lee Byung-hun revealed a story about his experience with director Park Chan-wook in 〈No Other Choice〉.

Lee Byung-hun returned with director Park Chan-wook after a long time with the release of 〈No Other Choice〉 on September 24. 〈No Other Choice〉 tells the story of a man named Mansu (Lee Byung-hun) who was fired due to the recession in the paper industry and eliminates competitors to find reemployment.

During an interview held at a cafe located in Jongno-gu, Seoul on September 24, Lee Byung-hun shared a story about asking director Park Chan-wook if it was okay to be funny. Lee Byung-hun recalled, “I laughed a lot while reading the script. I had to ask whether the director wrote this script to be funny, or if I was reading it differently and laughing.”

He also explained that he particularly did not try hard to show in this 〈No Other Choice〉 since it is a comedy genre. He stated, “In comedy or black comedy, there are many cases where trying to be funny backfires. Trying hard to be funny or trying to show something more is something that actors need to be cautious about,” and he mentioned that he was careful while playing the role of Mansu in 〈No Other Choice〉.

〈No Other Choice〉 premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and has been meeting audiences since its official release on September 24 after going through the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival.
