〈Left-Handed Girl〉 is a family drama that deals with the family secrets accumulated over three generations, which finally explode at the grandmother's 60th birthday party brought by a left-handed girl who uses the devil's left hand. Set against the backdrop of a night market seen through the eyes of a child, it is a work filled with sparkling colors and intense energy.
Director Zhou Siqing previously proved the potential of smartphone films with the movie 〈Tangerine〉, shot with Sean Baker using an iPhone 5s. In this work, he captures all scenes solely with an iPhone at a real night market in Taipei, gaining attention for its unique visual beauty. Director Zhou Siqing stated, "The night market in Taipei is filled with the warmth, lights, and sounds of people. To fully capture that liveliness, I shot with an iPhone without revealing the filming equipment." He added, "The characters in the background of the screen are actual vendors, and it became so natural that it was hard to realize we were filming a movie later on." Sean Baker also mentioned, "The entire city felt alive with sensations. The iPhone captured that emotion most closely."
