Park Jin-young Reveals Background for Accepting Chairmanship of the Cultural Exchange Committee on 'Radio Star'

Park Jin-young, Chairman of the Cultural Exchange Committee, detailed the background for accepting the chairmanship. He stated, "I accepted the chairmanship to solve tasks that are difficult to pursue at the company level for the K-pop industry."

On the 5th, Park Jin-young, who appeared on the MBC TV entertainment program 〈Radio Star〉, explained the process of how he eventually took on the role despite declining the position multiple times.

He mentioned that he would serve as a non-resident chairman, having initially received an offer for a full-time position but declined it after three months of contemplation. Park Jin-young said, "Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik persuaded me by addressing the reasons for my refusals several times, and eventually, there was no reason to decline anymore." He added, "While I could receive a salary if I worked full-time, I also have to perform as a singer and appear on 'Radio Star', so how would I manage that?"

During the broadcast, Park Jin-young garnered attention by candidly expressing his political views.

Park Jin-young emphasized, "Capitalism is excessively favorable to the wealthy when there is no government intervention. Therefore, policies from the progressive camp to protect the socially vulnerable are essential." However, he also added, "Excessively strong protective policies could lead to capital flight, so conservative policies to prevent this are also necessary."

He stressed the importance of balance considering the contemporary situation and international circumstances, stating that he has no intention of belonging to a specific camp, saying, "I am Park Jin-young, neither from the progressive camp nor the conservative camp," which elicited laughter.

Additionally, Park Jin-young expressed his gratitude for the ministerial-level treatment but stated, "I politely declined the honor," showcasing his humble demeanor.
