
This fall, the masterpiece 〈National Treasure〉 directed by Lee Sang-il must be seen on the screen as he meets Director Bong Joon-ho on the morning of November 14 (Friday). The film 〈National Treasure〉 depicts the once-in-a-lifetime story of two men who had to surpass each other to reach the level of a national treasure.
On the morning of November 14 (Friday), during his visit to Korea, Director Lee Sang-il, who directed the film 〈National Treasure〉, will meet with Director Bong Joon-ho to have an honest and exciting conversation about the film 〈National Treasure〉 and their perspectives on their cinematic lives.
Directors Lee Sang-il and Bong Joon-ho first met in 2011 during the film 〈The Villain〉, and they reunited through an audience meeting when Lee Sang-il visited Korea for promotional activities for 〈Anger〉 in March 2017. This meeting marks their official third encounter through the film 〈National Treasure〉, and it has been eight years since they last met in Seoul.
The meeting between Directors Lee Sang-il and Bong Joon-ho is also interesting from the perspective of the exchange between Korean and Japanese cinema and the network between Korean and Japanese directors. Furthermore, the anticipation is already building for the meeting of Directors Lee Sang-il and Bong Joon-ho, who have both gathered monumental audiences of over ten million. Meanwhile, Director Lee Sang-il has previously stated in an interview that Director Bong Joon-ho is "a director who provides a lot of stimulation and inspiration regarding films."

Meanwhile, 〈National Treasure〉, which announced the birth of the highest-grossing live-action film in Japan in 25 years, is a work by Korean director Lee Sang-il, which surpassed a cumulative audience of ten million in just 102 days since its release in Japan, recording a box office revenue of 16.4 billion yen (approximately 1.544 trillion won). Thus, 〈National Treasure〉 has become the second ten-million film in the history of Japanese live-action cinema and has set an unprecedented record as the highest-grossing film this year, following 〈Demon Slayer: Mugen Train〉.
