〈1026: For a New World〉 has confirmed its release in January 2026 with the unveiling of its teaser poster.
〈1026: For a New World〉 is the first domestic hybrid documentary essay film that aims to approach the truth of 10.26 by merging fictional drama based on contemporary materials and records. The '10.26 Incident' refers to the event on October 26, 1979, when President Park Chung-hee was shot by Kim Jae-kyu, the head of the Central Intelligence Agency, at the safe house of the Central Intelligence Agency in Gungjeong-dong.
This is the new work of director Choi Wi-an, who has a background as a KBS drama cinematographer and MBC production drama PD, and has created films such as 〈Evening Game〉 (2007), 〈Letter from a Romantic Husband〉 (2013), and 〈On the Way to My Son〉 (2017).
The released teaser poster symbolizes a decisive moment towards a new era, forming intense tension with a hand gripping a pistol and the boldly inscribed copy, 'Why Did He Shoot Park Chung-hee?' In a minimal composition that actively utilizes negative space, the texture of the gun barrel and hand contrasts with the heavy number '1026', clearly revealing the film's critical perspective towards a point in history, drawing even more attention.
