'V for Vendetta' is returning as a drama.
On November 10 (local time), the media outlet 'Variety' reported that HBO is producing a new drama based on 「V for Vendetta」. The graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd follows V, who wears a Guy Fawkes mask, as he leads an anarchist armed movement against a fascist government, seen through the perspectives of various characters. The 2006 film directed by James McTeigue adapted V's movement in a way that spread among the people.
This new drama is expected to be closer to the original, fitting the medium of television. Originally published under the DC Comics label 'Vertigo', the production is overseen by James Gunn, Peter Safran, and Chad King from DC Studios. Ben Stevenson, producer of 〈Westworld〉, will be in charge of production, and Pete Jackson, who wrote the script for 〈The Death of Bunny Munro〉, will participate in the screenplay.
The drama version is currently in development at HBO, with the airing date yet to be determined.
