'Just Makeup' Final Three Prove Their Identity as Artists

On the 18th, 'Paris Geumson' (Min Kim), the winner of Coupang Play's beauty survival program 'Just Makeup', along with runner-up 'Son Tail' (Son Joo-hee) and third place 'Oh Dolce Vita' (Oh Hyun-jung), shared their thoughts during an interview in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Paris Geumson stated, "I never expected to win," adding, "Winning against 60 competitors has given me the opportunity to truly show myself." He laughed when he mentioned the prize money of 300 million won, saying, "I received it about two months after finishing filming at the end of May."

'Just Makeup' is a survival entertainment show where top makeup artists from Korea compete against renowned international experts and beauty creators. Singer Lee Hyori served as the MC, and top makeup artists like Jung Saem-mool and Lee Sa-bae participated as judges, drawing attention. It ranked first in Coupang Play's popular works for five consecutive weeks after its release and achieved a spot in the top 10 of OTT rankings in seven overseas countries.

Runner-up Son Tail expressed, "I was happy to receive encouragement and support messages from many viewers after the broadcast," and added, "Rather than aiming for first place, I participated to grow and test myself, so I can't believe I made it to the final."

Third place Oh Dolce Vita mentioned, "Being part of an organization rather than being a freelancer made me cautious about being exposed on the show," and said, "I requested to participate with the mindset of testing myself even if I got eliminated in the first round, and I'm glad the results turned out better than expected."

Among the five rounds, both Paris Geumson and Son Tail identified the 'team mission' as the most challenging task. Paris Geumson recalled, "After being chosen as the team leader, I was worried if the team members would show up. Team members, including Oh Dolce Vita, came, and even when I doubted myself, they encouraged me, which gave me strength."

Son Tail also shared, "It's okay to fall alone, but in a team mission, everyone falls together, so the pressure was high," and revealed, "When I went up alone in the resurrection round, it was tough on my heart because of that part."

Oh Dolce Vita, who showcased makeup using her mother as a model in the competition, reflected, "Bringing my mother to the broadcast competition was a big personal adventure," and added, "I didn't intend to create a melodrama, but every time I saw my mother in the waiting room, I felt overwhelmed and found it hard to compose myself."

This competition became an opportunity for the participants to reaffirm their identity as 'artists' rather than just beauty professionals. Oh Dolce Vita emphasized, "In the past, people referred to us as beauty professionals, and many questioned why someone who does makeup is considered an artist. This show has allowed us to properly demonstrate that we are artists."

Paris Geumson also mentioned, "It was touching that I could present my work not just by doing makeup backstage according to references, but by taking on the role of an art director from the initial concept."

Son Tail added, "It was great to be able to do overall concept directing beyond just showcasing makeup techniques, and it was meaningful to elevate the status of K-beauty further."

They cautiously expressed their hope for a second season of 'Just Makeup'. Paris Geumson said, "If a season 2 is made, I hope the participants enjoy it, and even if they get eliminated, I want them to do their best to show their makeup philosophy."
