DEUX Releases New Song 'Rise' After 28 Years... Voice of Late Kim Sung-jae Restored by AI

The legendary 1990s Korean hip-hop duo DEUX is returning to fans with a new single 'Rise' after 28 years. Lee Hyun-do, a member of DEUX, announced on the 19th that his entertainment company, Wide Company, will release the first single from their 4th album project at 6 PM on the 27th.

The release of DEUX's new song marks the first time in 28 years since the track 'Love, Fear' from their best album in 1997. Formed in 1993, DEUX left behind major hits like 'Look Back at Me' and 'In the Summer', but disbanded in 1995, and the sudden passing of member Kim Sung-jae shocked fans.

Kim Sung-jae's Voice Precisely Restored with AI Technology

The most notable feature of the new song 'Rise' is that it restores the voice of the late Kim Sung-jae using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The production team collaborated with the voice AI specialist company, Sound AI, to jointly develop an engine that precisely reproduces Kim Sung-jae's voice tone and texture. This has been praised for capturing the unique emotions and atmosphere of DEUX in the 1990s using modern technology. DEUX has stated that they are proceeding with the project with the consent and cooperation of the bereaved family before utilizing AI technology.

Musically, the song maintains DEUX's signature sound of New Jack Swing, which combines hip-hop and R&B. It is said that they harmoniously blend modern production techniques with the emotions of that era to create music that spans generations.

The music video will be produced by the AI video studio 'The Ape Squad', showcasing a futuristic yet artistic visual.

On the release day of the new song, the 27th, a special event will be held for fans to meet directly. A special listening event named 'The Sound Stage with KT' will take place at Gwanghwamun KT Square and Sejong Center's courtyard.

Following the release of this single, DEUX plans to announce their 4th regular album in the first half of next year, raising the expectations of fans who have been waiting for DEUX for a long time to a peak.
