Sibling duo AKMU has chosen to part ways with YG Entertainment, where they have been for 12 years, and pursue independence. On the 21st, YG Entertainment expressed its support for AKMU's new challenges through an official statement.

YG stated, "AKMU has decided to take on a new path after careful consideration," and added, "We extend our heartfelt gratitude to AKMU for the amazing music and emotions they have shared with us during our time together."

According to the agency, AKMU conveyed their intention to become independent during a meeting with Chief Producer Yang Hyun-suk six months ago. Yang reportedly respected AKMU's decision and expressed his active encouragement and support.

AKMU signed an exclusive contract with YG after winning the audition program 〈K-Pop Star Season 2〉 in 2013. Since then, they have built a unique musical identity as YG artists for 12 years.

They have received public love by releasing numerous hit songs such as '200%', 'How Can I Love You Until We Part, I'm Loving You'. With their unique emotional melodies and sincere lyrics, they have established a solid position in the K-POP scene.
