Fumiya Sano, a member of the male idol group OWV, appeared on Fuji TV's variety show 'Oni Renchan' on November 23 and achieved back-to-back victories in the 7th 400m Running Survival Renchan. The prince, who set a new record of 57 seconds in the previous competition, garnered significant attention by achieving consecutive victories.
5-Minute Break, Harsh Rule of Eliminating the Last Place
In this competition, a total of 12 top runners clashed to stop Sano's consecutive wins. The simple yet harsh rule was that only the last place would be eliminated after each 400m race, with a break of only 5 minutes between each race.
Challenger Rinne Suda from B&ZAI expressed, "Losing to Sano last time was a heartbreaking moment in my idol life, so defeating Sano is my strongest desire. I carry all of that with me," igniting a fire for revenge.
As both Sano and Suda advanced to the finals, a fierce development unfolded, with Sano achieving back-to-back victories with a splendid run in the finals.
"Dancer's Movements in Running"
Immediately after winning, Sano shared his joy, stating, "I ran away. I thought if I fell behind, I could never catch up, so I kept going. Thank you always, fans! And to my supportive father and mother, thank you so much!"
Meanwhile, rival Suda shed tears, expressing disappointment, saying, "I couldn't catch up at all in the finals."
Fumiya Sano boasts exceptional physical abilities, citing long-distance running and karate as his specialties. He started dancing self-taught in college and has experience learning dance in Los Angeles, receiving praise for how dancer's movements directly translate to 400m running, including precise weight shifts, light landings, and explosive kicks.
