The 'masterstroke' of the Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize winner 〈Sound of Falling〉 has been revealed.

〈Sound of Falling〉 is a film that captures the lives of four girls living in different eras in the same house, their voices gradually awakening from silence, transcending centuries. It won the Jury Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival alongside 〈Indie Sonne schauen〉. The Jury Prize is awarded after the Palme d'Or and the Grand Jury Prize.

The team behind 〈Sound of Falling〉 later revealed the behind-the-scenes of the award, stating that the Cannes Film Festival actively sent outreach, leading 〈Sound of Falling〉 to forgo the Berlin International Film Festival and choose Cannes instead. For this reason, 〈Sound of Falling〉 garnered anticipation as the film of a German female director entering the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival for the first time in nine years since Maren Ade's 〈Toni Erdmann〉, completing a historic moment as the first German female director to win the Jury Prize.

With such attention from the film community, 〈Sound of Falling〉 will be released in Korea on December 17.
