Seventeen Jun Appointed as Youth Ambassador for Hainan International Film Festival

Jun, a member of the group Seventeen, has been officially appointed as the youth ambassador for the Hainan International Film Festival in China. His agency, Pledis Entertainment, announced this news on the 26th.

Jun, who is of Chinese nationality, has established his presence in the Chinese film industry while also engaging in K-pop idol activities. He has built his career as an actor by appearing in the film 〈The Stormy Night〉 and the historical drama 〈The Tale of the Unfortunate〉, and through this ambassador appointment, he will serve as a bridge connecting the Chinese film industry and its audience.

Jun's acting career dates back to before his debut with Seventeen. He made his film debut as a child actor in the 2006 film 〈The Wild Dog〉, and the following year, he achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Best Newcomer Award at the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild. Notably, he was nominated for the Best New Actor category at the 27th Hong Kong Film Awards, setting a record as the first Chinese child actor to do so.

Recently, he solidified his position as an actor spanning both Korea and China by winning the Popularity Award at the 2023 Busan International Film Festival's Asia Content Awards & Global OTT Awards for the youth romance drama 〈Poisonous Fairy Tale〉.

The Hainan International Film Festival will be held from December 3 to 9 in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. Jun's appointment as ambassador is expected to contribute to enhancing the festival's global stature and expanding its young audience base.
