The hot animation 〈Square〉 that is breaking award records every day has revealed still cuts.
Directed by Kim Bo-sol, the animation 〈Square〉 tells the story of a clerk, Bori, who must leave her home country, and Bok-joo, a traffic security officer who has no choice but to give up a future together, as well as the interpreter, Myung-jun, who silently watches the two. The film is set to be released in January 2026 and revealed still cuts on December 1st.
The still cuts evoke curiosity and interest about the film, showing the warm moments between Bori and Bok-joo, as well as the loneliness each of the three characters—Bori, Bok-joo, and Myung-jun—must bear. In particular, the winter scenery with falling snow deepens the atmosphere of the film, hinting at the story that 〈Square〉 will tell.
Set to be released in 2026, __Square__ will make its world premiere at the 27th Udine Far East Film Festival, followed by winning the Jury Award at the 49th Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the Best Director Award at the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, the Milky Way Award at the 21st Seoul Indie Animation Festival, and the Best Animation Award at the 18th Asia Pacific Screen Awards, captivating the global film industry after 9 years since director Yeon Sang-ho's 〈Seoul Station〉.
