'Avatar: The Way of Fire' Already the Movie of the Year? Selected as 2025 Movie of the Year TOP 10 by AFI and NBR

〈Avatar: The Way of Fire〉 has been selected as the movie of the year even before its official release.

〈Avatar: The Way of Fire〉 is the latest installment in the 〈Avatar〉 series, depicting the experiences of the Sully family on the alien planet Pandora. After the first film in 2009, which showed how human Jake Sully became a member of the Na'vi, the 2022 film 〈Avatar: The Way of Water〉 illustrated the Sully family's encounter with the water tribe Metkayina and their formation of a community.

Set to be released in South Korea on December 17, 〈Avatar: The Way of Fire〉 will tell the story of the Sully family facing off against the leader of the Ash tribe, Varang, and Miles Quaritch. The American Film Institute (AFI) and the National Board of Review (NBR) have selected it as one of the TOP 10 Movies of the Year for 2025. Anticipation is rising due to the positive reviews from film institutions even before its release. Notably, the AFI list has a high accuracy rate for Academy Award nominations each year, raising questions about whether 〈Avatar: The Way of Fire〉 can aim for the Academy Awards as well.
