The film 〈Ghostlight〉 has been invited as the opening film at the 40th Sundance Film Festival and is set to be released on December 17, 2025 (Wednesday), along with the release of its poster and trailer. 〈Ghostlight〉 is a work that authentically depicts the process of recovery of a middle-aged man, Dan, who cannot open his heart after a deep loss, through the medium of theater.
The teaser poster released ahead of the premiere emotionally captures Dan's profile, who is lost in loneliness after a deep loss, giving a glimpse into the overall atmosphere and emotional line of the film. The main poster, which was subsequently released, adds the review “A Touching Story About the Power of Human Relationships” over a rehearsal scene of the amateur theater group performing 'Romeo and Juliet', symbolically revealing Dan's journey as he stands on the threshold of change through the play.
The main trailer calmly builds the process of Dan facing the emotions he has long avoided and taking cautious steps to reconnect with his family. The authentic emotional lines created by Keith Cooperer (as Dan), Tara Mallon (as Sharon), and Catherine Mallon Cooperer (as Daisy) leave a strong impression even in the short video.
〈Ghostlight〉 is a new work by the duo Kelly O'Sullivan and Alex Thompson, who delicately portrayed the essence of human relationships in 〈Saint Francis〉 (2019), exploring the human inner self once again. In particular, the lead actors Keith Cooperer (as Dan), Tara Mallon (as Sharon), and Catherine Mallon Cooperer (as Daisy) are a real family, capturing the delicate emotional texture on screen, further enhancing the authenticity and immersion of the work. 〈Ghostlight〉, which embodies loss and the healing power of art, has received warm praise at major domestic film festivals such as the Busan International Film Festival and the Muju Film Festival, proving its artistic value. The authentic performances created by a real family, the direction that flexibly connects stage and reality, and the story that touches the depths of the audience's hearts come together to create a work that is expected to deliver a deep resonance this winter.
