Director Yoon Ga-eun of 'The Master of the World' Wins the Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award

The 26th Women’s Film Festival, hosted by the Women Filmmakers Association, held the '2025 Woman Filmmaker of the Year Award' on December 16 at 7 PM at Indie Space, with great success. Actress Moon So-ri hosted the event, and all awardees attended to grace the occasion.

Director Yoon Ga-eun of 〈The Master of the World〉 was named the Woman Filmmaker of the Year. The selection committee stated, "The protagonists in Director Yoon's films always collide with others, fall, and get hurt, but they have always been the masters of their own world." In her acceptance speech, Director Yoon said, "I believe I am receiving support on behalf of all creators to bravely tell stories in the face of a world that says not to bring up uncomfortable, difficult, and painful stories."

On this day, in addition to Director Yoon, 11 filmmakers were honored in various categories. Shim Jae-myung, CEO of Myung Film, received the Achievement Award, and actress Han Ye-ri received the Acting Award. In particular, actress Seo Soo-bin from 〈The Master of the World〉 received the Best New Actress Award, sharing the success of the work with Director Yoon. Actor Yoo Ji-tae received the Kang Soo-yeon Award for his contributions to supporting independent and art films for over 10 years, while Jeong Jang-soo, representative of 〈People and Meat〉, and writer Lim Na-moo received the Producer Award and the Screenplay Award, respectively.

The Women Filmmakers Association stated, "While the awards go to a few each year, this award belongs to all filmmakers present here and to all audiences who love Korean cinema," and added, "We will continue to record and support the efforts and achievements of women filmmakers in the future."
