Trot singer Jung Dong-won (18) has confirmed his voluntary enlistment in the Marine Corps immediately after graduating from high school. His agency, Showplay Entertainment, officially announced on the 24th that Jung Dong-won will enlist in the Marine Corps on February 23 next year.

Currently attending Seoul Performing Arts High School, Jung Dong-won will begin his military service right after his graduation ceremony. He has expressed his intention to enlist in the Marine Corps several times through his YouTube channel, and in June, he was seen seeking advice about military life through a conversation with singer and actor Oh Jong-hyuk, who is a Marine Corps veteran.

In the video, Jung Dong-won stated, "If you are born a man, I want to go to the military in a cool way," showing his firm determination to enlist. He also revealed, "My father is a veteran of the 707th Special Mission Group, so I grew up hearing a lot of military stories since I was young."

Since debuting in the music industry in 2019, Jung Dong-won gained public recognition by placing fifth in the audition program 'Mr. Trot' in 2020. Despite his young age, he has attracted the attention of trot fans with his solid vocal skills and mature stage manners.
