Weverse has apologized for the personal information leak and promised to prevent its recurrence.
Recently, anonymous individuals' messenger conversation histories were posted on an internet community. The conversations included messages like "Are there winners for 000?" "I bought 00 albums" "Can I remove it?" related to idol events. It was later presumed that this content was related to Weverse, the fan platform operated by HYBE. Weverse includes over 180 artists under HYBE, including BTS, Tomorrow X Together (TXT), and GFRIEND, with a global user base of 50 million.
In response, Weverse Company, the operator of Weverse, provided a notice to the victims explaining the circumstances of the personal information leak and compensation for damages. According to the notice, on November 25, 2025, at 12:33 PM, an employee in charge of fan events captured conversation content (including winners' personal information) during work and shared it without permission in a private KakaoTalk group chat. The company promised to ▶re-implement personal information protection training for employees ▶strengthen internal control systems ▶establish and review measures to prevent recurrence, and provided affected customers with 100,000 won in Weverse Shop cash. Additionally, it stated that the employee would be excluded from their duties and referred to the personnel committee for further action.
However, as the incident spread through online communities and social media, voices of distrust towards Weverse, which stated that arbitrary manipulation is fundamentally impossible, have been rising.
