Yoo Ji-tae, Confesses to Steroid Side Effects [Sad Brother Shin Dong-yeob]

Actor Yoo Ji-tae candidly shared his painful past of suffering from severe steroid side effects due to a doctor's misprescription during his childhood.

Yoo Ji-tae recently appeared on the YouTube channel 'Sad Brother Shin Dong-yeob' and revealed that he experienced drastic physical changes due to medication taken for a skin condition during his youth. He explained that the doctor had incorrectly prescribed a medication containing steroids, and as he continued to take it, his body became excessively enlarged. He added that despite being an elementary school student, he had gained weight up to 65kg, which is reflected in past photos circulating online, evoking sympathy.

In this regard, medical experts have emphasized that long-term or excessive use of steroid-containing preparations can lead to serious side effects throughout the body, including edema and weight gain, thus requiring special caution. Yoo Ji-tae also referred to this experience as a 'side effect' and recalled the hardships he faced at that time.

Meanwhile, Yoo Ji-tae shared a humorous incident that occurred due to his overwhelming physical appearance. While filming the Disney+ original series 〈Vigilante〉, he gained over 20kg, reaching 105kg, and actual gangsters mistook him for a 'brother' and greeted him respectfully. He mentioned that the misunderstanding was exacerbated by wearing a mask, and in his embarrassment, he quietly waved and quickly left the scene, making everyone laugh.

Yoo Ji-tae, who smiled and said that this incident seemed to have arisen because his true self was less exposed to the public due to his film-centric activities, continues to engage with fans while steadily pursuing his work in a healthy manner.
