'Black and White Chef 2' Chef Lim Seong-geun Confesses to Drunk Driving 3 Times... 'My License Was Revoked'

Chef Lim Seong-geun, a master of Korean cuisine who gained attention through the Netflix variety show 〈Black and White Chef 2〉, confessed that he had his driver's license revoked due to drunk driving on three occasions in the past.

On the 18th, Chef Lim Seong-geun stated in a video titled 'Food and Alcohol' posted on his YouTube channel, "While enjoying alcohol, I made mistakes. I drove under the influence three times over ten years," and added, "Ten years ago, I was caught driving under the influence with the engine running, and the most recent incident was 5-6 years ago. I received criminal punishment at that time, and my license was revoked, but I have since reacquired it."

He continued, "What I did wrong is wrong. I don't want to make excuses or evade responsibility," and said, "Receiving immense love has been burdensome. I wanted to let out the things I've kept inside one by one. I hope you can forgive me generously."

After the video was released, Chef Lim also posted a handwritten apology letter on the YouTube community. He wrote, "Drunk driving is a clear mistake and cannot be justified for any reason," and added, "I felt that continuing to work while hiding my past mistakes, despite receiving excessive love, was an act of deceiving those who support me and is not courteous."

He also expressed, "I sincerely apologize for disappointing you with my careless actions," and vowed, "I will not forget my past mistakes and will strive to be a chef who has a positive influence on society."

Chef Lim, who holds a master qualification in Korean cuisine, gained recognition by winning the tvN 〈Korean Cuisine Battle 3〉 in 2015, and recently became a hot topic again by being selected as one of the final seven in 〈Black and White Chef 2〉. He has since appeared on various shows, including 〈You Quiz on the Block〉.
