The legendary hero 'He-Man', who thrilled boys around the world in the 1980s, is returning as a live-action film after over 40 years.
On the 22nd (Korean time), Amazon MGM Studios released the first teaser trailer for the film 'Masters of the Universe' and confirmed the release date as June 5, 2026.
◆ Responding to 1980... A Nostalgic Teaser
The released teaser trailer was produced with a concept that thoroughly stimulates the nostalgia of original fans. Under the MGM logo, the phrase 'An Amazon Company' appears, quickly interspersing images of old CRT TVs, cartridges plugged into game consoles, Fruit Loops cereal, and Jazzercise videos that were popular in the 80s, exploding with retro vibes. The scene where the protagonist Prince Adam raises the iconic 'Power Sword' and shouts "By the power of the universe!" sends chills down the spine.
◆ Nicholas Galitzine vs Jared Leto
This film is based on the eponymous toy from Mattel and is a blockbuster with a production cost of over $200 million (approximately 280 billion won). The role of He-Man (Prince Adam) is played by rising star Nicholas Galitzine, while his arch-nemesis Skeletor is portrayed by the talented actor Jared Leto. Additionally, Hollywood top stars including Camila Mendes (as Teela), Idris Elba (as Man-at-Arms), Alison Brie (as Evelyn), and Kristen Wiig (voice of Roboto) are all set to appear, raising expectations.
◆ A Return After 15 Years, Save Eternia
The film begins with Prince Adam returning to Eternia under the guidance of the Power Sword after being away from his hometown for 15 years. Witnessing his devastated hometown under Skeletor's rule, he joins forces with his allies to become the true He-Man. The megaphone is held by director Travis Knight, who directed 'Bumblebee'.
After the live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren in 1987, 'He-Man', which has suffered several production cancellations, is set to take over theaters worldwide once again in the summer of 2026.
