'Moulin Rouge' and 'The Sound of Music' in Theaters... Megabox Hosts 'Disney Cinema' Event

Legendary musical films can now be seen in theaters.

Megabox announced on the 5th that it will continue to operate 'Disney Cinema' in collaboration with Walt Disney Company Korea in 2026, and will hold a new event to welcome the new year. 'Disney Cinema' has been running for three years since its launch in May 2024.

As the first 'Disney Cinema' event of the year, Megabox will screen the representative musical films 〈Moulin Rouge〉 and 〈The Sound of Music〉. First, 〈Moulin Rouge〉, starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman, depicts the tragic love story of a beautiful musical singer dreaming of social ascent and success in the Moulin Rouge of late 19th century Paris, and a young poet who is captivated by her. It was selected as the opening film of the 54th Cannes Film Festival and won Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Actress, and Best Original Song at the 59th Golden Globe Awards. 〈Moulin Rouge〉 will be screened from the 12th to the 25th.

〈The Sound of Music〉 is a film adaptation of the original musical based on a true story. It tells the story of the spirited novice nun Maria who becomes a governess for the strict von Trapp family and connects with the seven children she meets through music. The film features famous songs like 'Do-Re-Mi' and 'Edelweiss' set against the beautiful backdrop of the Alps. Notably, 〈The Sound of Music〉 will be screened in Dolby format for the first time in Korea, from the 16th to the 22nd.
