The shining star of Broadway, Jonathan Groff, is wrapping up his life as the legendary singer Bobby Darin.
According to local media on the 11th (Korean time), the lead of the musical 'Just In Time', Jonathan Groff, will depart from the production after the performance on Sunday, March 29, 2026. His vacancy will be filled by another Broadway star, Jeremy Jordan, who is set to take the stage starting April 21. The casting to fill the gap between the two actors has not yet been announced.
◆ "Melchior Led Me Out into the World"
As he approaches his departure, Groff has been actively engaging with fans through media appearances. He recently appeared on Amy Poehler's podcast 'Good Hang' released on the 10th, where he candidly shared about his acting life. Reflecting on his time in 'Spring Awakening', for which he was nominated for his first Tony Award at the age of 22, Groff confessed, "At that time, I felt I lacked singing skills and talent, and I called my father crying the night before the audition." However, he added, "Playing the rebellious character Melchior helped me build my inner strength, and thanks to that, I found the courage to come out to my family and friends," reminiscing about his growing pains and moving the listeners.
Earlier, on February 4, he showcased his talent by perfectly performing Darin's classic song 'Beyond the Sea' on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'.
◆ Leaving the Stage but Meeting on Screen
Although he is stepping down from the stage of 'Just In Time', Groff's endeavors continue. The live film of the much-anticipated production 'Merrily We Roll Along', in which he collaborated with Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez, is set to be released in theaters worldwide on December 5. Additionally, the 'Just In Time' cast album has been nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards, proving that his musical achievements are ongoing. Fans are sending warm applause instead of sadness to the departing 'Bobby Darin'.
