Actor Jo In-sung shared insights about the deep relationships in 〈Humint〉.
On the afternoon of the 11th, a commemorative interview for the release of the film 〈Humint〉 took place in Jongno-gu, Seoul. On this day, Cineplay met with Jo In-sung to discuss behind-the-scenes stories about the film 〈Humint〉 and his honest acting concerns.
The film 〈Humint〉, directed by Ryu Seung-wan, tells the story of individuals with different purposes clashing in Vladivostok, where secrets and truths are submerged in a cold sea of ice. Jo In-sung plays 'Manager Jo', a National Intelligence Service agent of South Korea, who successfully carries out operations with sharp intuition and judgment even in dangerous situations, but struggles between a ruthless mission and human choices after losing an informant for the first time.
Manager Jo approaches the informant Chae Sun-hwa (Shin Se-kyung) with his characteristic kindness and humanity. Jo In-sung revealed, "I tried to approach the informant kindly, with the mindset of exchanging not just information but emotions." In response to a reporter's comment about the subtle melodramatic mood felt towards Chae Sun-hwa, he said, "There was no special request from the director or my intention. However, if you saw it that way, I feel it is the highest praise as you seem to appreciate the film richly. Just like how you saw the chemistry between me and Kim Hye-soo during 〈Smuggling〉, I would be grateful if you caught a glimpse of the chemical reaction between the two characters."
The film 〈Humint〉 was released in theaters on February 11.
