YG Entertainment (hereinafter YG) has set 2026 as a year of significant change and leap, unveiling a bold roadmap that encompasses the launch of a new group and the vigorous activities of existing artists.
On the 4th, YG posted a video titled '2026 YG PLAN | YG ANNOUNCEMENT' on its official blog. In this video, Chief Producer Yang Hyun-suk appeared personally to reveal the activity plans for the artists scheduled for this year and specific plans for a new IP (intellectual property) that is being ambitiously prepared.
The most notable news is the birth of a new boy group. YG officially declared through subtitles, "We are preparing a new boy group aiming for a launch in the fall of 2026." This will be the first boy group introduced in about 6 years since the debut of Treasure in 2020. Chief Yang Hyun-suk expressed a strong determination to successfully debut a team this year, revealing that he has been exploring and analyzing the male trainee team since last year.
The outline of the new girl group project, tentatively named 'Next Monster', has also become clearer. Following the already impressive talents of Ively and Chanya, the identities of the remaining two members will be revealed soon. With this, YG will build another powerful girl group lineup targeting the global market, following Baby Monster.
The activities of existing artists are also hotter than ever. The commemorative tour for Big Bang's 20th anniversary has been confirmed, and news of comebacks for Baby Monster and Treasure has also been shared. With the launch of a boy group after 6 years and the return of Big Bang, the world’s music fans and industry are focusing their attention on YG's 2026 endeavors, which are filled with significant projects.
