Florence, Italy has become hot with Korean films. The local prestigious Korean cultural festival, '24th Florence Korea Film Festival', had a glamorous opening at the La Compagnia theater on the 19th (local time). This year, the overwhelming popularity was proven with a special exhibition for actor 'Gong Yoo', who has a strong local fandom, and a masterclass by global hit filmmaker 'Yeon Sang-ho'. Additionally, the collaboration between film music director 'Jo Sung-woo' and the Florence Pops Orchestra elevated the festival's prestige.

The opening ceremony was attended by numerous prominent local figures, including Eugenio Giani, the governor of Tuscany, demonstrating the rising status of K-content. The opening film was the short 'People and Their Relationships' directed by Yang Jong-hyun, which explores the theme of elderly alienation in modern society, and it sold out quickly, garnering explosive acclaim.

Director Yang Jong-hyun expressed his overwhelming feelings, saying, "It's an honor to be able to unfold my dream of becoming a film director here in Florence, after growing up watching classic Italian masterpieces." As the festival's global status sharply rises, there is a continuous influx of 'sponsorship flooding' from famous local brands. The world-renowned wine 'Chianti Classico' is supporting the official dinner, and premium toothpaste 'Marvis' is participating as a major sponsor, expanding the scale of the event.

Launched in 2003, the Florence Korea Film Festival has been a key bridge that has spread over 2,000 Korean films across Europe. More than 100 Korean filmmakers have visited, firmly establishing it as a true 'K-content advance base'.
