
The film 'Florence', starring actors Kim Min-jong and Yeo Ji-won, is making headlines as it has won the Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay awards, achieving a triple crown at the 2025 Global Stage Hollywood Film Festival.
At the awards ceremony held on November 14 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, the film directed by Lee Chang-yeol became the first Korean film to sweep three categories at this festival. In his acceptance speech, director Lee Chang-yeol expressed the significance of the work, stating, "It is an honest confession of a middle-aged man and contains the comforting emotion of a warm cup of tea."
Kim Min-jong Proves Acting Skills with Comeback After 20 Years
The film is a road movie depicting the healing narrative of a middle-aged man, Seok-in, who travels to Florence, where his youthful passion once thrived, at the end of his loss. Kim Min-jong has returned to the screen after approximately 20 years, receiving praise for his restrained yet powerful portrayal of the loneliness, regret, and courage to rise again that a middle-aged man experiences.
Yeo Ji-won plays the character Yoo-jung, symbolizing life and freedom in Florence, showcasing her fluent Italian and performing a dance infused with Korean sentiment. The two actors have also engaged in passionate promotional activities, including visiting Radio Korea in LA.
Filmed on location throughout Florence, Italy, this work offers beautiful visuals and a sensuous direction, providing the audience with an immersive experience as if traveling alongside the protagonists. The movie 'Florence' is set to be released domestically on November 26.
