The live-action movie 'The Legend of Zelda', co-produced by Nintendo and Sony, revealed its first official images on November 18 through the Nintendo Today app, announcing a global release date of May 7, 2027.
The released video and images focus on the first visual representation of the two main characters, Princess Zelda played by Bo Bragason and Link played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, standing in a green field. Zelda is holding her iconic bow and arrow, and both characters showcase costumes reflecting details from the original game, including 'Hylian ears'.

Shigeru Miyamoto, representative of Nintendo, stated, "In the live-action movie of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. We look forward to the new interpretations that both actors will present on screen with the fans."
Bragason gained recognition from the BBC series 'Three Girls' and Disney+'s 'Renegade Nell', while Ainsworth appeared in Netflix's 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' and the movie 'Pinocchio'.

The casting of these emerging actors has elicited various reactions from the fandom. Some have positively evaluated the novelty and potential for new interpretations, while some existing fans expressed disappointment, hoping for more famous actors. In particular, the absence of transgender actor Hunter Schafer, who was previously mentioned for the role of Zelda, has sparked controversy in some communities.

The film is directed by Wes Ball, known for 'Planet of the Apes: Kingdom' and 'Maze Runner', with the screenplay written by TS Nowlin. Producers include Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad.
The 'Legend of Zelda' game series has sold over 150 million copies worldwide since its first launch in 1986, and the global box office success of 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' has heightened expectations for live-action films based on video games. The industry is focused on whether the live-action adaptation of 'The Legend of Zelda' will create another box office sensation.
