Kwon Jin-ah’s debut Japan solo concert showcased her live capabilities on the local stage and opened a new chapter for her global activities.

Live synergy forged with Japan’s top-tier local band session Kwon Jin-ah held her first solo show in Japan, “2026 Kwon Jin-ah First Concert in Japan,” at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall in Tokyo last month, meeting local fans. As it was her first solo concert in Japan since her debut, it drew intense attention even before the event. With participation from a top local band session, including a guitarist active as producer for the world-renowned band One OK Rock (ONE OK ROCK), the group delivered high-completion sound for every song. Kwon Jin-ah also narrowed the distance with the audience by actively communicating with Japanese remarks she prepared herself, albeit with some awkwardness.

From acoustic to rock, representative original hits The performance kicked off with “Something’s Not Right” and the title track of her debut album, “End.” She then displayed her signature R&B and pop sensibility with songs such as “Stillmissu” and “Knock,” before showing a strong rock sound through “Our Way.” In particular, during the stage of “You already have,” Kwon Jin-ah played the guitar herself and sang, further boosting the immersive feel. She proved her wide genre grasp by seamlessly combining band sound with every track, filling the set list with variety.

OST medley and a special J-pop cover tailored to local audiences The highlight of the concert was a custom set list aimed squarely at local fans. By weaving together an OST medley from popular Japanese dramas “My Friend’s Son,” “My Perfect Secretary,” and “Wise Doctor Life,” she delivered familiar, heartfelt moments. She also sang Kenshi Yonezu’s “Lady” and shared an anecdote about how it made her start learning Japanese. She then perfectly reinterpreted famous J-pop songs in her own style—such as the anime Chainsaw Man OST “Jane doe,” Hikaru Utada’s “First Love,” and Amasarashi’s “What I Thought When I Decided to Die”—driving the crowd’s energy to its peak.

A global move promised alongside a fiery encore In the latter half of the show, she ended the main stage with lingering emotion after “Love & Hate” and “Reunion,” both featured tracks from her third studio album, followed by “Tell Me What You Did Today” and “Good Fortune,” songs that have been loved a great deal in South Korea. When the audience repeatedly called for an encore, Kwon Jin-ah returned to the stage and delivered “Comfort,” closing out the finale of her first Japan concert. She said, “I hope my songs became a time filled with comfort and happiness. I’ll grow more and meet you again,” adding to the anticipation for her future global plans.
