An Unruly Ripple Between Teacher and Student! Netflix ‘Notes from the Last Row’ Main Poster & Trailer Released!

‘Heo Mun-oh,’ a failed writer and a professor of Korean literature, discovers the genius of the last-row student ‘Lee Kang,’ becomes fixated on him, and their story of obsession unfolds.

A suspense drama 〈Notes from the Last Row〉 that depicts the story of ‘Heo Mun-oh,’ a failed writer and a professor of Korean literature, discovering the genius of the last-row student ‘Lee Kang’ in a classroom, fixating on him, and spiraling into obsession has released its main poster and main trailer, drawing attention.

The released main poster captures ‘Heo Mun-oh’ (Choi Min-sik) and ‘Lee Kang’ (Choi Hyun-wook) in a space lined with packed bookshelves, setting up a tension-filled contrast. In ‘Heo Mun-oh’s’ expression—visible between the endlessly extending rows of books—there is a sense of inexplicable confusion, while ‘Lee Kang’s’ solitary figure feels calm, sparking curiosity about the intriguing dynamic between the two.

The poster’s composition makes it look as if ‘Heo Mun-oh’ is looking down on ‘Lee Kang,’ watching everything unfold. But if you examine the expressions more closely, ‘Lee Kang’ seems to be wearing a mysterious smile as though he holds the key to every incident—hinting at a relationship with his teacher-student connection that flips expectations and further heightens curiosity. In addition, the tagline “The ending of the story twists” amplifies anticipation for unpredictable events that will unfold in front of the two once they begin their personal literature class.

The main trailer, released together, hooks viewers right away with the words of ‘Heo Mun-oh,’ who grows confused after reading ‘Lee Kang’s’ writing, saying, “That’s just your imagination.” It then starts with ‘Lee Kang’s’ reply: “No, it’s not imagination—I inferred the situation.” In ‘Heo Mun-oh’s’ lecture, ‘Lee Kang’ points out errors, and soon he receives an offer to join a personal literature class. After entering his friend’s home, he turns the things happening there into his own writing. Before long, as ‘Lee Kang’s’ actions keep crossing the line, ‘Heo Mun-oh’ tells him, “A writer shouldn’t do that,” but ‘Lee Kang’ insists he is just curious about the truth, and continues his observation under the pretext of assignments.

Meanwhile, ‘Heo Mun-oh’ is pulled in, uncontrollably, by ‘Lee Kang’s’ writing without even realizing it, and becomes gripped by madness. Scenes that follow—an ominous traffic accident whose identity remains unclear, and ‘Heo Mun-oh’ and ‘Lee Kang’ chasing an unknown figure as danger spreads—lead viewers to expect that the story that begins as their personal literature class will spiral into a major incident beyond control. For a brief moment, after pouring out his pent-up rage, pleading for trust in himself, ‘Heo Mun-oh’ is left behind as ‘Lee Kang’ turns away and wears an enigmatic smile. His appearance raises questions: why did he accept the class offer, and what secrets might be hidden in his writing.

Not only the intense acting ensemble of Choi Min-sik and Choi Hyun-wook, but also a suspense drama genre built on a highly immersive story you can’t stop once you start—〈Notes from the Last Row〉 will be released exclusively on Netflix on June 26 (Friday).
