After the release announcement poster was unveiled, Netflix series 〈The East Palace〉, which has been drawing intense attention not only in South Korea but around the world, follows Gucheon (Nam Joo-hyuk), who has the ability to move back and forth between the world of spirits, and palace lady Saenggang (Noh Yoon-seo), who carries a secret, as they receive a summons from King (Jo Seung-woo) and dig into the curse that has taken root in the East Palace.

The teaser poster that was released captures both the world of spirits and the real world, leaving a powerful impression. Inside a palace shadowed by dark clouds, Gucheon stands holding a sword, his posture steeped in resolve. Above all, the ruined panorama—highlighted by the red light shining on him—draws viewers in. Along with collapsed stone lanterns, tangled vines, as if the curse had melted into them, and the ominous aura wrapping around them make it clear at a glance what kind of place Gucheon crosses into—the “world of spirits.” Added to that is the tagline, “Crossing between the real world and the world of spirits, uncovering the secrets beyond the boundary,” raising expectations for Gucheon’s role as he moves between the two worlds.

In addition, the teaser trailer that lifts the veil shows “a ghost hunter” Gucheon emerging amid a tense, eerie atmosphere, instantly capturing attention. It is none other than the king who called him into the palace. The fact that the king, who does not believe in ghosts or superstition, summoned Gucheon to the palace sparks curiosity, as Gucheon senses that the palace holds a deep reservoir of resentment. He decides to step directly into the world of spirits to find the “wounded ghost,” while palace lady Saenggang watches him walk into a pond.

Soon, the world of spirits unfolds before Gucheon. The place, filled with a dark crimson aura, is another side of reality. Gucheon begins confronting the ghosts, swinging his sword, and leaves behind a chilling line: “Those who commit crimes are destined to be punished someday.”

Meanwhile, in the real world, Saenggang is shown with a determined expression, her forehead stained with blood—stimulating further curiosity. At the same time, tension rises as the king and the grand royal lady (Jang Young-nam) also face mysterious occurrences. “If you enter once, you can leave only after you die”—it sparks questions about whether Gucheon will be able to save his life and what existence threatens the East Palace.

Above all, audiences are drawing intense expectations for the three actors—Gucheon, Saenggang, and the king—who have transformed perfectly in the teaser trailer. Nam Joo-hyuk, set to showcase dynamic action as he moves between the real world and the world of spirits; Noh Yoon-seo, transforming into a palace lady carrying a secret and unveiling a distinctly different side from before; and Jo Seung-woo, who leaves a strong impression even with just a brief appearance—viewers are left wondering what kind of synergy will captivate them.

With its unmistakable universe, storytelling, and acting skills, Netflix series 〈The East Palace〉 will capture audiences worldwide, and can be watched exclusively on Netflix starting July 17 (Friday).
