On July 13, the National Theater of Korea and CGV announced their “Cinematour” program. “Cinematour” is a special screening event that brings the National Theater of Korea’s signature repertoire to the big screen, and it will screen “Changgeuk: The Hegemon-King and Farewell to My Wife,” “The Book of the Lion,” and “Entong-i’s Lullaby Kingdom 2.”

First, on Tuesday, August 4, at 7 p.m., the National Changgeuk Company will screen “Changgeuk: The Hegemon-King and Farewell to My Wife.” The production, which drew a sellout crowd every time it was staged, blends the colorful movements of Chinese opera and the deep sound of changgeuk to depict the tragic love story between H e g e m o n - K i n g and W u h i. After the screening, a GV featuring members of the National Changgeuk Company Lee Yeon-ju and Lee Kwang-bok, along with cast Kim Joon-soo and Jeong Bo-kwon, will be held.

Then, on Tuesday, August 11, at 7 p.m., the National Dance Company will screen “The Book of the Lion.” 『Inspired by “The Book of the Dead: The Tibetan Book of the Dead”』, the work expresses a journey of 49 days after death through powerful Korean dance and modern music and video. After the screening, viewers can hear firsthand about the creation process and the stories behind the scenes through a GV with choreographer and the National Dance Company’s artistic director and head Kim Jong-deok, as well as National Dance Company members Jang Hyun-su and Park So-young. 〈Changgeuk: The Hegemon-King and Farewell to My Wife〉 and 〈The Book of the Lion〉 will come with special tickets, the organizers said, drawing major anticipation from fans.

Finally, on Tuesday, August 18, at 2 p.m., children’s music event “Entong-i’s Lullaby Kingdom 2” will be screened, and all attendees will receive a picture diary and a set of colored pencils. This family program lets children and families enjoy familiar lullabies with Entong-i, a character from the National Theater of Korea, in gugak and discover Korean music naturally. The event will provide a special cultural experience for children and family audiences as they head into summer vacation.

Starting Monday, July 13, anyone who wants to attend can apply through the National Theater of Korea website, and “Cinematour,” which is free for all seats, can be seen every Tuesday at the CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall.
