The rescue ship for the crisis-hit `Marvel Studios` has finally arrived. The film `Spider-Man: Brand New Day`—(hereafter, `Spider-Man 4`)—starring actor `Tom Holland`, surpassed 680,000 people on its first day, shattering the top opening-day record in theaters this year.

According to data from the Integrated Ticketing Network for Admission Tickets for Film Theaters, as of the previous day, `Spider-Man 4`, which hit theaters and unveiled itself, topped the box office with overwhelming figures—680,800-plus daily viewers and a 83.2% share of ticket sales. It left behind, by double-digit scores, the opening records of this year’s top performers, Director Na Hong-jin’s `Hope` (330,000-plus viewers) and Director Yeon Sang-ho’s `Cluster` (199,000-plus viewers).

That is, as explained by the distributor `Sony Pictures`, a top-tier figure even when compared across all releases from the previous year. Above all, industry eyes are on the film because it renewed—on its own—its predecessor’s undefeated opening-day streak, namely `Spider-Man: Homecoming` (540,000-plus viewers), `Far From Home` (670,000 viewers), and `No Way Home` (630,000 viewers).

The core of this box-office surge lies in the combination of a deeper narrative and dominating visual effects. The new film depicts the painful growing pains Peter Parker, now an adult, faces after his memories of his girlfriend, MJ (`Zendaya`), and his close friend Ned (`Jacob Batalon`) are completely erased. While portraying the inner world of the solitary hero with density, it also delivers evolved high-altitude action, drawing explosive praise from actual theatergoers.

In fact, the CGV Egg Index—an indicator of real viewers’ evaluations—stands at 96%, and among critics and audiences alike, praise is pouring in, with comments such as, "By far the best among the Marvel releases in recent times."

The web-weaving syndrome that has swept through theaters is expected to grow even stronger starting this weekend. As of 9 a.m. on the 30th, the advance-ticket rate for `Spider-Man 4` stands at 68.1%, far outpacing the new work of famed director Christopher Nolan, `Odyssey` (15.6%). The number of advance-sale viewers has already surpassed 751,000. Meanwhile, `Hope`, which had kept the No. 1 spot at the box office for 14 days straight, drew about 87,000 people the previous day and slipped to second place.
