[Box Office] ‘Spider-Man 4’ Sweeps Theaters During Opening Weekend… Tops 3.38 Million Cumulative Viewers

‘Spider-Man 4,’ starring Tom Holland, fully took over theaters during its opening weekend. The movie drew about 2.255 million viewers over the weekend alone to claim the No. 1 spot at the box office, and its cumulative audience count quickly surpassed 3.38 million.

According to the integrated computer network for theater admissions, ‘Spider-Man 4’ reached the 3 million mark on its fifth day in release and is resetting its box-office records at the “fastest pace among this year’s releases.” Portraying a new threat facing an adult Peter Parker, the film proved the staying power of the series that previously amassed 22 million viewers domestically.

Na Hong-jin’s ‘Hope’ took second place in weekend box office. It pulled in about 335,000 viewers and surpassed 4.11 million in cumulative audiences, but it fell short of ‘Spider-Man 4’s’ dominant share (80.6%).

The only contender expected to threaten this streak is Christopher Nolan’s new film ‘Odyssey.’ Ahead of its release on the 5th, ‘Odyssey’ recorded a 39.2% advance ticket rate and 340,000 ticket sales, closely chasing the leader ‘Spider-Man 4’ (43.3% advance rate), setting up an intense battle at theaters.
