Rescene and its fandom join forces to help their flood-hit hometown
Girl group Rescene, which serves as an ambassador for Geoje City in South Gyeongsang province, has donated 50 million won to help repair damage from the recent torrential rains.
Geoje is the hometown of Rescene member Woni and the birthplace of Geoje Yaho, the online meme that helped cement the group in the public’s mind. Since being appointed Geoje City ambassadors in May, the members have worked to promote the area’s appeal. This time, they stepped up to help heal their flood-hit hometown.
Record rainfall from the 15th through the 17th caused widespread flooding and landslides across Geoje. Rescene joined forces to help flood victims quickly return to their daily lives. The group made the donation in the name of its official fandom, REMINE, underscoring its significance.
The fandom REMINE also took direct action in response to the artists’ charitable efforts. On the 18th, Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association opened a dedicated donation page in the name of the Rescene fandom and began collecting contributions for flood victims in South Gyeongsang province.
The donation from Rescene and the funds raised voluntarily by the fandom are expected to provide key support for “rebuilding daily lives,” including compensation for affected residents and repairs to damaged facilities.
