Yeon Sang-ho’s ‘Paradise Lost’ sells out Toronto International Film Festival screenings, draws strong local response

The cast and crew of 〈Paradise Lost〉 spent time with scores of movie fans in Toronto.

The film 〈Paradise Lost〉 released behind-the-scenes stills Sept. 18 from its Toronto schedule at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival. Invited to the festival’s Special Presentations section, 〈Paradise Lost〉 held its world premiere screening and a conversation titled ‘TIFF Summit: Dialogues.’ Director Yeon Sang-ho and lead actors Kim Hyun-joo and Bae Hyun-sung met with audiences at the event.

The stills capture the actors meeting audiences, posing for photo shoots and giving media interviews. 〈Paradise Lost〉 sold out all approximately 2,300 seats across four official screenings. After speaking with numerous international media outlets and earning praise from local audiences, the film has heightened anticipation for director Yeon Sang-ho’s new thriller.

〈Paradise Lost〉 is a psychological thriller that begins when Ryu Sun-woo (Bae Hyun-sung), a son whom Ryu So-young (Kim Hyun-joo) believed had died after losing him in a camping school bus disappearance nine years earlier, returns alive as if by miracle. The film opens in South Korea on Oct. 21.
