Gwanaksan Water Park’s Surprising Turn: Free ‘Moana 1’ Screening Set for Fall Night

A Romantic Theater in an Urban Valley

Gwanak District in Seoul will host the 2026 Gwanak Night Sky Film Festival at the Gwanaksan Sillim Valley Water Park at 7 p.m. on Oct. 2, bringing residents and nature together for an evening under the stars. Launched last year to an enthusiastic response, the event transforms a valley water park that draws summer vacationers into a tranquil outdoor movie theater on an autumn night.

The festival will screen ‘Moana 1’, the Disney animated film beloved around the world. Set in a natural theater where the breath of the forest blends with the sound of running water, the story of an ocean voyage is expected to offer an immersive and emotionally refreshing experience rarely found in the city.

Admission is free. Residents who wish to attend must register on a first-come, first-served basis through the official Seoul Public Service Reservation website by Sept. 30.

Park Joon-hee, head of Gwanak District, said, “The moment the screen lights up, an ordinary park where people take their usual walks will become, for some, a movie theater they will never forget.
